Hello,
I´ve just created a Data Template for cisco memory. It contains three Data Source: proc_mem_free, proc_mem_largest, proc_mem_used but I could not put all those Data Sources in the same Data Template! When I add a new Data Source it use the same SNMP OID for all of them. Is it right? (I copy the SNMP - Generic OID Template but added new Data Sources...).
I was reading the Howtos and Documentation but can´t figure it out, do I need to create a new SNMP Query for this to work? The OIDs are fixed, thats the reason I think that the Generic OID Template should work.
If a new SNMP Query is needed, how can I make one that have just three fixed OID? The example in docs show one that make a table (like the SNMP interface) but the one I need is much more simple.
Thanks for the help.

Data Templale with more more than one Data Source

1) there are already several cisco scripts/templates on the script forum... why reinvent the wheel?
2) a data template may only contain ONE OID to poll. If you need multiple, you need to create multiple data templates. Then combine their data sources in the graph template.

I'm "reinventing" the wheel for learning proposes. I see many templates in the forum, but I decided to understanting the concepts and try diferents and more elaborated templates later.
I did exactly as you say, created 3 data templates and combined then into one graph template for this cisco memory I made, but this way, the same information (let's say, cisco proc mem) is saved in tree diferent rrd files. I want to put this information on the same rrd file, that's why I want 3 Data Sources in the same Data Template.

Gotcha. Well thats good... I'd suggest learning how to create a SNMP XML script/templates -- like the snmp interface one. Much more useful since a lot of snmp data is indexed and relatively easy to create for. Another is a custom script which spits out data and the templates that go along with it.Snake wrote:I'm "reinventing" the wheel for learning proposes. It cannot be done using the method you're using. A Data Template may contain multiple data sources, but only ONE OID. Using a script (snmp, other, etc) is the only way a data template may have multiple data sources so there is only one rrd file per logical grouping.Snake wrote:I want to put this information on the same rrd file, that's why I want 3 Data Sources in the same Data Template.
The snmp generic oid data template is a quick n' dirty of way of graphing a single oid.
