Data Sources show as NONE in custom graph template

Post by technicidat »

Hi,

I'm creating a custom graph template to aggregate bandwidth graphs from several routers.

We have the template working on an existing Cacti build (0.8.6i on 32bit Linux) and are currently migrating to a newer version (0.8.7d on 64bit Linux).

I have tried exporting and also manually creating the template on the new server but when attempting to create a new graph using this template, the drop down boxes for Data Source [traffic_in] under the Graph Item Fields section show as "None" (same with traffic_out)

On the working installation, these drop downs have a list of interfaces that one can choose depending on which interface graph you want to aggregate (in or out).

Any ideas on why these are not being populated with the available interfaces (all created successfully already)?

I've run out of ideas and things to check.

Any help much appreciated..

Thanks.

More info from the debug command if it helps:

RRDTool Command:

/usr/bin/rrdtool graph - \
--imgformat=PNG \
--start=-86400 \
--end=-300 \
--title="Total Bandwidth" \
--base=1000 \
--height=120 \
--width=500 \
--alt-autoscale-max \
--lower-limit=0 \
--vertical-label="" \
--slope-mode \
--font TITLE:8: \
--font AXIS:8: \
--font LEGEND:6: \
--font UNIT:8: \
CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"" \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"":STACK \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"":STACK \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"":STACK \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"":STACK \
AREA:cdefa#00FF00FF:"":STACK \
AREA:cdefa#00BF47FF:"":STACK \
LINE1::"" \
LINE1:cdefa:"":STACK \
LINE1:cdefa:"":STACK \
LINE1:cdefa:"":STACK \
LINE1:cdefa:"":STACK \
LINE1:cdefa#55009DFF:"":STACK \
LINE1:cdefa#0000FFFF:"":STACK

RRDTool Says:

ERROR: invalid rpn expression in: a,8,*

I have searched that error but it seems to be cause by various different issues ranging from OS problems to other problems when changing graph templates, etc.

At least for that graph output, there is no rrd file define so the CDEF is invalid. Make sure the graph's data sources have valid item(s).

Hi,

I am having the same problem as technicidat. It simply doesn't populate the data sources combo, always showing as None. I was wondering if is something related to folder config or file permissions.

Is there any common cause for this or and indicative where I could check to make sure everything is configured properly as it a new instalation. I have a old one where this thing works fine.

Gandalf, what you mean with "walkthroughs at 1st link of my sig"

Thanks
