RRD not updating in solaris.

I have followed all the instructions to debug the problem with NaN values in the RRD to no avail
the problem started to happen recently all of a sudden there a large numbers of rrd that are not updating, the datasources collect data you can see update statement in cacti.log with the correct rrd name but the files in the rra folder are not being updates with the values.

the poller runs with root user it is set in the crontab of root and all the rrd files have root user as the owner. so no permissions user issue.

i have exported the poller output to a file, but there are not error being seen in that file either.

what could be the cause that the rrd are not being updates.. sometimes they update all of sudden and then no more updates for 7 or 8 hours.. it's quite random actually.
they should be updated every 5 minutes as the poller runs every five minutes.

Do you always see the rrdtool update statements in cacti.log?
