CACTI Support for Windows

Post by ataro »

I am new to Cacti. I am planning to use this on VMWare. Is it possible to generate CPU and other performance related graphs for Windows Servers?

Thank You

Yes.

SNMP info is easy. Other sources of data (wmi, scripts, etc) is also possible with some extra config/work.

Thank You.

I am able to generate reports for Windows 2003 server for the required counters. But for Windows 2000 I am unable to get all the counters. For example for Windows 2000, I am able to get CPU graph, but not Physical memory.

Could you please point me to the template for Windows. I need template for both the graphs and monitoring counters for Windows 2000 as well as Windows 2003 Server.

Also for multi processor PC's how can I get the graph in a single sheet graph.?

This is because windows 2000 doesn't support it. You'll need to use WMI to pull this info or use the snmp-informant addon.

1) have cacti graph each cpu seperate.
2a) manually create a graph combining them all together. read in the documentation site.
2b) Use the aggregate plugin to quickly create a graph of them all.

I have the combination of both Win2k and Win2003 Servers. All I need is just 3 counters.
1. CPU Utilization graph (Some servers have multiple CPU's)
2. RAM Usage graph
3. Disk Volume (C, D) graph.

All the servers running Netsaint for Nagios as well.

What is the best option for me to achieve the objective?

Appreciate if someone points me to the required templates.

I've already given you options, it's up to you to try/decide which is best. A pure SNMP solution is the most hassle free / efficient.

Only real issue you face is ram on win2k, since the rest do cpu/disk just fine.

Is there any way to get RAM details on Win2K usning SNMP itself?

Thank You.

I am new to Cacti. I have installed snmp-informant on Win2K. Now how do I integrate this with Cacti? I am not able to find the proper graph template.

Search the script forum, users have created templates for it. If you don't find what you're after, then learn how to create it by reading through the documentation website (link above).
