How to calculate number of data rows i RRA's

Post by amisz »

hi, i need to calculate number of rows for my new RRA file. What is the formula?

for example i want rra with timespan=94608000 (86400 * 1095 * 3 = 3 years ) and step = 2016 (12*24*7 = 7 days). But how can I calculate the number of data rows?

This is covered in the rrdtool manual. Also could read http://docs.cacti.net/manual:087:8_rrdtool#rrdtool

The number of data rows is the number of samples you want to store. If you want to have a period of three years with a value for each week you need 3*52 data rows ! But read the documentation, I think your timespan and step values are wrong....
