Post by Hermann »

Hallo,

But i want to try a Cacti install on Centos 5.0 OS

On this machine runs a webserver with DirectAdmin. I have onside more than one machine running. And i want to try foor monitoring this machines with Cacti.

What i have done:

1- I has already make the database in Mysql (some Cacti data included)
2- I has download and unzipped the program files (version 0.8.7d) in the cacti directory. ( http://www/our-site/cacti/ )
3- I has installed rddtool (yum install rddtool)

Now i start Cacti with the command http://www/our-site/cacti/

The sytem go directly to http://www/our-site/cacti/install/

And than comes with the following error.

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/bin/rrdtool) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/infonet/:/tmp:/usr/local/lib/php/) in /home/infonet/domains/basicinfonet.nl/public_html/cacti/install/index.php on line 100

Please see 1st link of my sig for complete installation instructions. Please note also, that CactiEZ, the complete Cacti CD is CentOS based and may reduce your effort significantly. Find it at http://cactiusers.org

cactiez is a distro, or a iso with cacti already to go in the distro.

It might be easier to virtualize cactiez for testing, with something like VMWARE.

It sounds like you have mySQL and Apache/PHP already installed, but cacti wants the RPM's.

This looks like a security warning, e.g. php safe mode on.

Decide either to install manually or use yum. The installation manual describes, which packages are required, for sure it's mysql, php and some related packages
