Windows Media Services Templates

Post by yeoldeshortone »

You must enable snmp for windows media services by running:

regsvr32 "%systemroot%\system32\windows media\server\wmssnmp.dll

Also, makes sure the snmp service is installed and setup. Here is a link in case you need it.

http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsSe ... x?mfr=true

The attached template will give you the players connected to the service and also the bandwidth being used by the players. Enjoy.

Hi yeoldeshortone,

Is there an alternative using WMI to get connected players and bandwidth for each of the publishing points in Windows Media Services.

i dont think SNMP will do the job. Many thanks in advance

The solution that i am using is SNMP Informant - Advanced Agent. It adds a bunch of SNMP counters including publishing point stats. Not free, but saved me a lot time. Attached are the templates i used with that program. Hope this helps.

I haven't found one. Im sure that it is possible to have a script to interact with WMI and feed the data into either SNMP or directly into cacti. The software just gave me all the media services information, plus a lot more.

Hi,

My cacti version is 0.8.7e, It can be a problem?
