SNMP and Yum with red hat

Post by chrisvai777 »

Hi all,

I am new to linux and forgive me if these are silly questions but, I have downloaded red hat 5, the 30 day trial version and am trying to get snmp to work. I wonder if anyone can give some good online yum repositories for snmp and other rpms? I presume i dont have access to the offical Red hat ones as am not supported in the trial version?

Also is there a step by step guide for installing snmp because there seem to be alsorts of depensdancy issues when I am installing it?

Many thanks

Please find a "all in one" CentOS based CactiEZ image at http://cactiusers.org. Very much recommended as a start. You will have access to CentOS repositories which are kind of dups for RHEL.

If you consider Cacti as "this software" please notice that it is mainly a PHP application, spiced with a bit of javascript and, as thus, quite platform independant. Spine, the fast poller, has to be compiled on your platform (or downloaded via package manager).

Please find complete installation description at 1st link of my sig
