Spine 0.8.7d-pre3 Available for Testing
All,
The SNMPv3 issue should now be resolved. In addition, the segmentation faults during reindex checks should also be resolved. Please provide feedback. I recommend that you use nifty-popen if you are using scripts.
Regards,
Larry

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?

works for me
I can confirm that this resolves the problems I was seeing with the SNMPv3 timeouts and putting my config in /etc/cacti. Thanks for the help!
I'm still having problem with sSpine 0.8.7d-pre3. Here is the error

I am getting "ERROR: Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID! (oid: )" with this new version, and was getting it occasionally with spine .8.7.c, but now almost every polling cycle.
I ran php -q rebuild_poller_cache.php after stopping the poller for a few cycles, but the problem popped back up after I restarted the poller.

You have a bad oid for the host in question. If you turn logging to medium that should show you the culprit.

Well... logging it did expose it, but it doesn't explain why I'm getting the error:
04/10/2009 11:45:10 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[388] DS[15582] SS[3] SERVER: /data/cacti/scripts/ss_fping.php ss_fping 10.249.1.111 20 ICMP , output: min:0.9220 avg:1.0037 max:1.5370 dev:0.1325 loss:0.0000
04/10/2009 11:45:10 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[388] ERROR: Problems parsing Multi SNMP OID! (oid: )
I use the same template for literally hundreds of the same device type, and none of them are returning errors.
I'm getting graphs for that device, which is strange if there is an OID issue.
Could there be an error in the DB or something else going on?

The two messages have nothing in common. What that error message means is that you have an snmp_get request that has no OID associated with it. I have changed the logging just a bit to help people with this error message in the future.dononeil wrote:Well... logging it did expose it, but it doesn't explain why I'm getting the error:

What's your poller interval. It looks like 30 seconds.
What happens if you cd to the source directory, put your spine.conf there, run

This particular server does 30 second intervals.
Since it doesn't seg fault every time I'm guessing I'd have to catch it in the act for this to be of any use to you.

Can you setup a test for me. Create some random hosts.
1, bad ip address, UDP ping
2, bad ip address, TCP ping
3, bad ip address, ICMP ping
4, bad dns (three tests above)
See if any of these test cases make hung worse.
