Poller Check

Post by kenny29 »

Hi,

I'm using Spine poller and it works well but I have a little question. My cron interval for Cacti is "*/1 * * * * cacti /usr/bin/php /var/www/cacti/poller.php > /tmp/cacti.log".
In cacti the cron interval setting is at 1 minute too and Poller Interval ia at 30 sec.

When I look my unix process, I can see the poller process but it appears all about 15 secs and not all minutes.

Is that normal ?

You're telling it to run every minute, not run for a minute, so it will run as long as it takes to complete.

As a note, setting the poller interval shorter than the cron interval doesn't make any sense. The poller interval should be the same as the cron interval.

As another note, unless you are doing something specific that requires it, I highly recommend you stick with the standard 5 minutes for cron and poller.
