monitoring interfaces graph template problem.

i am monitoring a esx server a rehl. all graphs work properly except when i try to monitor the traffic in the interfaces. I have tried to debug by turning debugging in graph management but to no avail.

there is an error yield by rrdtool :

ERROR: opening '/opt/csw/apache/htdocs/cacti/rra/esx1_traffic_in_2277.rrd': No such file or directory

what i am missing here in order to have the graphs working. i am totally at loss.

It may be an access problem.
If file exists on the server, try

#chmod 666 /opt/csw/apache/htdocs/cacti/rra/esx1_traffic_in_2277.rrd

If not, go to the Data Sources, chose your source, click Turn On Debug Mode (you will see the code you need to copy and paste as root on server with cacti).

It should help.

but i get an error thus the rrd file is not created.

ERROR: Duplicate DS name: traffic_in

This data template is broken, as the error suggests. The very same ds name is used multiple times

thank you for your help.
do you have any idea how can i fix a data template? it's on xml; i can export data templates into xml or should I submit a bug to cacti?
there seems to be multiple DS but with some cisco router this work each ds isn't it for the type of graphs (1h, 1day; 1week, 1 month, etc..)

What version of Cacti is this. I have not seen the duplicate data source issue in almost 2 years.

I am using cacti version 0.8.7b.

i am trying to monitor the traffic on the interfaces of some esx servers or solaris servers.

the esx servers are running
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon)

the solaris are running solaris 10.
