spine syslog ( Host Notice : xxx returned from DOWN state)

Post by Wyllyam »

Salut,

Je reçoit bien les notifications Down/Up par email:
Host Error : Hostname is DOWN
Host Notice : Hostname (1.2.3.4) returned from DOWN state
Mais dans le syslog impossible de récupérer les returned from DOWN state

Vous savez quelles options sont à choisir pour cela ?

mais peut-être que ce n'est pas prévu dans Spine ?

cacti 0.8.7b & spine 0.8.7a

You can install the THold plugin and obtain these notifications directly.

thold 0.3.9 is already installed.

I get the returned from down notification by mail, into the cacti log file but not into syslog

What are the option have to change so I can find this notification appear into syslog ?

There are a number of ways. If using syslog-ng, you can have the Cacti syslog actually incorporated into the system syslog, if that's what you want. However, the Cacti Log is not quite syslog compliant. I would guess you would configure them to all go in at either Info or Notice.

You would have to seek out Cigamit on the inclusion of this in 0.41+

In fact, I'm using CactiEZ with syslog-ng automaticaly installed and all messages stored into MySQL.

I already received the Down notifications (into syslog , by email, into Cacti Log file)
example I get into syslog
<42>Mar 19 13:30:19 cacti Cacti[21605]: 03/19/2009 01:30:19 PM - SPINE: Poller[0] Host[1040] Hostname[1.2.3.4] ERROR: HOST EVENT: Host is DOWN Message: Host did not respond to SNMP
I already received the return from Down notification (by email, into Cacti Log file) but not into syslog.
I would like to get into syslog :
Host Notice : XXX (1.2.3.4) returned from DOWN state

ok I found my problem for the installation and activation of Thold.

1/ my user doesn't have rights to manage plugins
2/ once rights ok, I have to install and to activate the new Thold 0.4.1

now I have to test if I receive into syslog the return from Down notificaion.
