Show Bandwidth Usage

Post by Tox »

Hi

Cacti for what I see is a great tool, can any one tell me if with Cacti I can track the amount of bandwidth my Server uses ? my problem is in the data center where I rent my server they don't offer any panel or tool to track the bandwidth I use per day, week or month, so I really need this tool in order to make sure I don't go over my monthly limit witch is 1000GB, can you guys tell me if I will be able to accomplish this with Cacti, and if it does is it cumulative or can it be set to Zero every month ? thank you for your help.

Yes, it can definitely do that, but may be a little overkill. If you already have a web server installed with php, mysql, rrdtool and snmp stuff, then it wouldn't be that hard to throw Cacti up and configure this. However if you just wanted bandwidth reports for your one local system you may want to look at some other options just to see what ther is: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/bandwidth-mon ... linux.html

Yea, but if you get it via RPM, just about everyone can run it. Now the advanced stuff, that is another question.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
