Ping timeouts to sensitive

Post by avdvyver »

Hi all,
Please can someone guide me through setting the ping alerts on my Cacti setup (alerting via Thold) to only alert after, say 5 ping packets have timed out? Currently, as soon as a packet drops, Cacti sends alerts about the host being down and in my environment a few pacts are dropped every now and again and that does not mean the host is down. So if someone can guide me through changing the ping timeout / alert sensitivity it would be a great help.
Thanks!

Cacti will retry X times and if it get's one right in that X times, the host is up, so I don't know what you are talking about.

Hi TheWitness, where exactly do you set X? Is this a general setting or is it done per device?
