Remote cactiez servers

Post by Nitr0 »

Hi everyone,

I am using cactiez to monitor quite a few subscribers that we have on our ISP. I use it to monitor their equipment and make sure all their values are within applicable values, etc.

To accomplish this I have one main cactiez server and then I have vpn that lets me connect onto each remote network for every tower. The only problem with this is that it introduces a little bit of latency (30ms) due to the vpn overhead. I'm wondering if there's a way I could put a cactiez server at each site and have our main server do the polling from that server so the latency times are actually accurate without having that overhead in there. I also would like to do this so I can have accurate weathermaps and latency times between our backhauls.

Has anyone done something like this before? I'm sure it's possible but I can't find any information it.

Thanks

There are a few that have done this, but, to date, cacti does not support. Seek out gninga.

For those wondering, I'm still here, but lost in the shadows. Yearning for less bugs. Who want's a Cacti 1.3/2.0? Streams anyone?
