Tune command

Post by Guest »

I have been trying to get the ds.php to perform an "rrdtool tune" on a .rrd file with no success. I wan to modify the maximum value, but even though I check the "Update Changes in .rrd File" checkbox, the maxvalue does not change in the rrd. I then have to change it at the command line. Why does this function not work?

I have seen this also -- I was figuring it was an rrdtool problem as the tune command issued by cacti looked okay (if my brain recalls that correctly - I'm not sure). But I did see this problem and was also correcting the rrd file via the command line.

This really could be a result of two things.

Cacti's tune function could be broken, since I have not really tested it for a few versions. I have no reason to believe that it is though.

Another common problem I used to have with cacti and rrdtool's tune function had to do with permissions. You have to make sure your web server user has write access to all of the files in cacti's 'rra/' directory. If not, the tune command will fail.

Also note that the 'web server user' may be different from the user you run 'cmd.php' as, depending on your setup.

That was the problem. Thanks for the support. This is a great product.
