poller interval, dummies guide?

Post by wardrobe »

running cacti 0.8.7b via debian/package

we have an existing 0.8.6 install that is happy, but we need "better" resolution that 5 miniute averages so i've got a test 0.8.7b system setup

is there a dummies guide on how to get resolution of 10 secs?

i've fiddled about in the configuration->settings->Poller
i look in management->datasources and it still says Poller interval 5 mins
(device setup before the "fiddle"

went into templates->data templates-> interface-traffic and added the hourly 1 minute average)

looking a the graphs i think they are still 5 mins as the samples only change every 5 mins (i perform a network capture i can see the poller snmp'ing every 10 secs)

i really dont know what im doing so is there a guide? tried doing a search and couldnt find anything apart from the realtime plugin.

thanks
