Thold Email Subject Change

Post by Gabriel »

Hi ,

How can I define the email subject when thold dish out an alert? This way i can skim through the email subjects without needing to open them. Can this be achieved via template?

Essentially I wish to receive an email when interface is down, with the subject specifying the port description (ie |query_ifAlias|).

eg I want:
switch1(Lab)_172-16-1-1 - Status - Fa0/17 [int_status] NYDC01 restored to normal

even better:
switch1(Lab)_172-16-1-1 - Status - Fa0/17 [int_status] NYDC01 restored to normal at 17:00:00 27/2/09

I have a good feeling I'm not the first who asks this.

Cheers,
Gabriel

The major release should have the ability to change the email subject. But frankly I don't see the point of adding the date or time in the subject, as most all email readers show the date next to the email (including my blackberry).

Yeah..probably not required because we're not talking about distributed monitoring whereby an emails got stuck on remote site because the network is down...
I'll check out 4.0, thanks!
