Question about rrd_maximum and |query_ifSpeed|

I've a simle (maybe stupid ) question:

When I create an interface graph, CACTI creates the rrd-file with maximum value for DS setting it to query_ifSpeed value of SNMP query.
So, peaks should be prevent in case of counter reset.

Now, I'm monitoring Tunnel Interfaces of a Cisco device, that has as "Speed" value of "9000", really strange and low.

Cacti is working properly, setting 9000 as maximum value:

[root@cacti rra]# rrdtool tune my_cisco_traffic_in_881.rrd
DS[traffic_in] typ: COUNTER hbt: 600 min: 0.0000 max: 9000.0000
DS[traffic_out] typ: COUNTER hbt: 600 min: 0.0000 max: 9000.0000

and SNMP is reporting this value...

SNMPWALK:

(...)
IF-MIB::ifDescr.4 = STRING: Tunnel101
(...)
IF-MIB::ifType.4 = INTEGER: other(1)
(...)
IF-MIB::ifSpeed.4 = Gauge32: 9000
(...)



But how is it possible, I've values on graph over 70Kbit/s?
For me it's OK, 'cause 9000 is a too low value and if the limit would be maintain, I would have an emplty graph... The limit should be 9000BYTES per second, right?

You should change 'bandwidth' value under interface configuration

You mean under "Data Queries" -> "Associated Graph Templates" -> "Suggested Values" -> "rrd_maximum" and change the |query_ifSpeed| ?

I know how change the value on the file (rrdtool tune ... -a ...), btw I have no idea WHY graphs still show values even if they should be truncated by rrd on rrdtool update due max limit too low.
Or I'm understanding something wrong...
BTW, I would *NOT* that in a further version this start working as i thing it should and all my graphs stop to collect values...

No. i mean you should change it on the device itself, in your case on cisco router.

Thank's au, setting the "bandwidth" it works. I'm not cisco proof, asking the Network office, this does the trick!
BTW I've answerred my doubt too... some graphs are trunkated at ~70000bit/s, that is in fact 9000*8.
