Polling Win32 C: Drives for space

Post by sllywhtboy »

Using the Win2k/xp templates, every server that I poll for disk space has issues with the c:. only the c: drive. other drives are fine.

sometimes, all it shows is the available space.
sometimes, all it shows is the disk used.
sometimes it shows both.
sometimes it's intermittent, smidges of usage over available space.

no problems with polling otherwise, no crazy timeouts or gaps.

here's a link to screenshots of the c: drives of servers at one site.

this happened on two systems (of two) running cacti after upgrading to 0.87.c

centos 5.1
rrdtool 1.2.27 from source
php from packages
apache from packages
cacti from source
mysql from packages

the other system has a similar configuration but a larger scale and the problem is more pronounced.

thoughts?

thanks,

Please name the exact Data Query used. There were some fixes on related scripts. YOu may want to fetch them from SVN

I have had success plotting Disk, memory and LAN info with template found here:
http://forums.cacti.net/about11634.html&highlight=ucd

I have the template that says "Alex's Unix Host Template set for Cacti, version 1.2, GPL license"

Please note that I am running Cacti on opensuse and monitoring my Windows 2003 server hosts with template successfully.

The problem is likely the heartbeat in the Template. Make sure it's 600 seconds for both. You may need to update your RRDfiles as well. Also, windows has issues, you may need to increase the timeout. If you have no warning messages in your logs, then I suspect the former issue.

sorry, Host MIB - Hard Drive Space has a heartbeat of 600 for both hdd_total and hdd_used.

none of the standard templates were changed when this was implemented.

Grabbing an updated lib/rrd.php from svn appears to have fixed this for me.

Errm, well, it improved things, but similar problems show up elsewhere...

Cheers,

hmm. replaced cacti with 0.8.7d, no real improvement.

when i changed the hosts from SNMP v2 to SNMP v1 from about 10:30 to 13:30 and got improvements on some (disk usage where i only had space) and degradation in others (space where i had usage)

i went back to SNMP v2 after.
