Incorrect graph values

Post by apapierz »

Hello,

I'm new to Cacti and using 0.8.6j. Everything works fine except one thing that I don't know how to solve. I have a graph with data that comes from snmp query (one single OID) and my problem is that values on the graph are different than snmp query returns. Additionally each value is scattered between two 5 min periods - like on a picture that I enclose. I would like to know how to solve my problem and was trying to find solution on this forum but didn't succeed. Both values on picture should be 1. How can I change this and what should I do to display that values correctly on Cacti graphs?

May you please help me in fixing the issue.

Best regards
apapierz

P.S.
Sorry for my English :)

First, if you are new, we STRONGLY recommend using latest 087d version of cacti.
Then, I need to know what kind of data you're trying to graph. Is it a COUNTER or a GAUGE (in SNMP wording)? I fear you're graphing a GAUGE but using a COUNTER type data source

Hi,

I can't switch to newer version of Cacti cause there is a lot of things that this Cacti installation graphs and I'm not an only user.

The data that I'm trying to graph it's a counter and in this case it shows total number of calls attempted since system start.

I found on the forum why values are so small (it looks that the graph shows call attempts per sec) and that i can use cdef functions to multiply small values and make them to look more real but i suppose it is not a proper solution.
I still don't know why data from one query is scattered betewen two periods on the graph.

This IS a proper solution. 0.003 * 300 makes about 1 as you expected
