Solved - Poller time with 5 minutes is too short

Post by mhinti »

Hi!

I have a many Sources to monitor with cacti. I think my poller time (every 5 minutes) is to short. Where can I config this time value?

for example: 15 minutes between the pools

Thanks

Markus

You would need to use rrdtune to adjust all your existing rrd files, and the existing data sources in Cacti.

Have you tried Spine or Boost? Spine can reduce the time for the poller to run quite dramatically. If it's not enough, Boost streamlines the disk updates to gain more performance. Both are probably easier than changing the polling period on a running system.
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

Hi,

Thanks for the windows files.

Now i have active spine, but my RRD Files are not updated.

Following entries are in the cacti log:

02/10/2009 09:19:59 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:298.9744 Method:spine Processes:3 Threads:10 Hosts:38 HostsPerProcess:13 DataSources:482 RRDsProcessed:0
02/10/2009 09:19:59 AM - POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting.

Whats wrong ?

The config form spine.conf.dist is

DB_Host 10.0.0.23
DB_Database cacti
DB_User cacti
DB_Pass cacti
DB_Port 3306

That's very odd. Windows, is a bad platform for this type of application. Cygwin is very library sensitive. I would need more information to help you on this. The two messages are not enough.

Solved:

SPINE: Poller [0] FATAL: Spine Encountered a Segmentation Fault (Spine thread) FATAL: Spine Encountered a Segmentation Fault (Spine thread)

This error accours when spine was set to more Threads per Process:

I changed the poller to:
Max Concurrent Poller Process: 30
Max Threats per Process: 1 !!

Now is the error away.

Spine: Poller[0] Host[45] ERROR: The Popen timed out

This error accours when the "Windows Uptime Script" was active. Remove this script solve this problem.
