Installation Problem with SQL error connect

Post by djlau »

hello all,
Nice to show a complete forum for cacti's support.

Firstly I would say that i'm french and it's difficult to me to speak good english.

Secondly I describe my environnement:
-1 Labtop (Asus A6) with Windows XP
-1 VMWare player with debian4 (the last stable) (bridged connection)
-My debian is recently install the only command that i've used is "apt-get install cacti"

let's get the problem now:

1) after downloading (i think all) packages it advertise me that the path of libphp install has been changed

2) It asked me tu use or not dbconfig-common -> I answsered Yes

3) When It asked me wich Web Server I would to use I choose Apache2

4) It ask me a 3 or 4 different password -> i've answered the same password to each application.

5) When finally it write me this: "can't connect to local MySQL Server through socket 'var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' "

One more time, sorry for my english but i try to explain me as better as possible.

Thanks for your help.

Laurent.

Like it was wrotten, it was efefctively a SQL problem.

I think apt-get installa all the dependance but I've had to install mysql-server myself, that was the only problem.
