0.8.7c ICMP Ping down device detection problem

Post by forgacp »

After upgrate from 0.8.7b to 0.8.7.c I have problem with Downed Device Detection (Ping Method). I have servers for wich I used ICMP Ping, but after Cacti upgrade, cacti said that these servers are down. When I cliked on Devices, Ping Results, ICMP Ping Success. And there was problem with pooling these servers, because when is device down, no updates of rra and no updates od graphs occured...

I resolved this issue in this way: in cacti/lib/ping.php, starting line 242, i changed
shell_exec("ping "
to shell_exec("/sbin/ping "

I use:
FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE
PHP 5.2.5 with Suhosin-Patch 0.9.6.2 (cli) (built: Jun 25 2008 15:38:33)
Cacti 0.8.7.c

I'm wondering, why this happens. The parenthesis belongs to an if that queries for operating system unix. And IMHO, FressBSD belongs to the unix family

OK, so, the problem is some variable $PATH in cacti, or for every OS must be specified correct full path to ping in ping.php?
