Windows Poller - Can it run silently

Post by PhilB »

Morning,
Used to run Cacti under Linux some time ago and installed it afresh this week on a Windows 2003 system. Everything is working well so far but the scheduled poller.php is driving me mad popping up every five minutes while I'm working away on the server. Is there a way to make it run in the background silently? Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Phil.

What i ended up doing, before i switched to a Linux based Cacti system was have Cacti run as a different user that the one you use to manage the system. We setup a separate account called Cactiuser that had all the necessary permissions, and then ran the Scheduled Task as that user, which eliminated the popups of the running poller.

Hope that helps

Thanks App,
That appears to have worked a treat. Set up a new user in Cacti and Active Directory as the Cacti server is on the domain doing a few other bits as well and changed Windows Task Scheduler to use the new accoutn as you suggested and the popups stopped, err, popping up.
Many thanks for the help.
