New graphs are not being generated

Post by befrenchy »

Hi Folks,

I'm using version 0.8.7b and Spine. Everything was going well and graphs were showing properly until i decided to add bunch more (close to 300 more). Existing graphs are still updating but new ones appear broken with a red x. I checked and there is no .rrd file for the new graphs which explains why the graphs aren't displaying properly. I need to troubleshoot this problem but I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for all your responses,
Eric

First, the pure amount of data is no problem for cacti. You may add a 100 times more without problems.
So will have to perform standard troubleshooting: See 2nd link of my sig

I ended up deleting all my graphs and starting from scratch. At first all seem to work but as soon as I added more and more and i started having problems again.

My cacti.log has the following error:

01/13/2009 10:09:55 AM - SPINE: Poller[0] ERROR: Spine Timed Out While Processing Hosts Internal
01/13/2009 10:09:55 AM - SYSTEM STATS: Time:294.0874 Method:spine Processes:1 Threads:4 Hosts:17 HostsPerProcess:17 DataSources:691 RRDsProcessed:168

Poller interval is set to every 5 minutes. Is it possible that it is just taking too long to for the poller to run and doesn't get a chance to complete before it has to start again?

If you're using e.g. a lot of slow scripts, this may occur. A debug session may show such a behaviour. From data available to me, I can't judge better
