A graph template that contains a data source template ?

Post by plotting4fun »

Hi,
I am trying to create a template of a graph of specific SNMP OID.

I managed to make this work by creating a Graph Template AND a Data Template,
then, for a new host, I need to apply the graph template, then the data template, then assign the data template as an item in the graph template.
Is there a quicker solution ?

Thanks ! 8)

There is an easier solution. You are on the right track, though.

The way I do it is when I run across a graph that I need that isn't already built in to Cacti, I first figure out what the OID for the SNMP object that I am wanting to graph is. Then, I create a data template based on that OID string. After creating the data template, I then create a graph template, using the new data template as the data source(s). Then when you want to create a graph for a device, you just select the graph template from the drop-down and fill in any information that your graph template requires (depending on how you set it up).

That's it!

If you need more specific help, let me know. I have several examples of what you are wanting to do.
