How do I get the Discovery Plugin to create graphs?

Post by crazybdr »

I have cacti version 0.8.7b
Just installed the Discovery plugin version 0.8.4

It ran a discovery last night and it found all the devices I was expecting it find! But...when I click add to add one of the devices it does not create any graphs. I didn't find much documentation on how the plugin decides which graphs to make, but someone mentioned it might make the graphs designated by the template?

I'm very new to cacti and haven't played with the templates much but right now the template it uses has two associated graphs, and both of them say "Not being graphed"

What we WANT to do is to have it make an in/out bits graph for each interface of the devices it finds....thoughts on how to do this? Right now I would do this by clicking on the device, and then clicking "Create graphs for this host', selecting all the check boxes for each interface, and then clicking "create" to make the graphs. Is this something the plugin can do automatically for me?

You need to goto the Discovery Templates on the console, and create a template for that type of device. It does SNMP Description matching (possibly other checks in the future, but I have little time for now). It will then auto-create the graphs when it discovers the device (not when you click Add)
