IP tunnels monitoring
Dears,
I have to monitor IP tunnels for a juniper router,
And I have the oid for that BUT my problem is which data source type should i use:counter, gauge, derive, absolute or there is something else for that?????
i tried both of gauge and counter but it doesn't work
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.****.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.* = IpAddress: 192.168.1.25
Anyone can help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks.

Re: IP tunnels monitoring
the OID you partially gave is an ip adress: could you provide the one you're trying to graph ?cccchheekkiiee wrote:And I have the oid for that BUT my problem is which data source type should i use:counter, gauge, derive, absolute or there is something else for that?????
A small series of values obtained via command line calls could help to find the type.
Did you create a new datasource for both try ? Updating data template does not impact existing data source instancescccchheekkiiee wrote:i tried both of gauge and counter but it doesn't work

I am using the oid below:
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.4874.2.2.35.1.5.1.3.1.1.7.335559939 = IpAddress: 192.168.1.25
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY

But the result is an IP address!
What do you expect the graph will look like?

Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

I already created this graph but i have no readings on it?
i used the SNMP-Generic OID template
snmp version: v2
data source type: i tried counter, gauge, derive and then absolute but none of them get me readings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone can show where is my fault?
By the way ,
I am expecting to get normal graph as usual graphs.
Thanks

IT'S AN IP ADDRESS!!!
It doesn't vary over time. It doesn't make any sense!
That is your fault...

Number of connections? Throughput? Errors?

Re: IP monitoring
I expect you want to graph your data throughput of your tunnels. So I think you'll need to query interfaces on your juniper.cccchheekkiiee wrote:Dear All,

Maybe you'll have the interfaces listed at the ip adres of your juniper.
If you add a device (your juniper), select the SNMP generic template and enter the ip adres where snmp is listening on (it's the maintenance(?) ip of your juniper). If you select Add you'll get a screen with at the bottom of the page the interfacesQueryType (or how you call it ). At the end of the line you'll see a number (x of y). That's the number of found interfaces. At the top of the page: select 'Create Graphs for this Host'. In the following screen all the interfaces are listed. Now you can create graphs of your interfaces. I hope some interfaces are tunnels so you can get your graphs.
If not: What DO you have? Provide more information and maybe we can figure out what to do to get the graphs.
Also, have you searched the forum for juniper templates? I believe this is what you need?!

IP monitoring
Dear,
Thank you for your reply but this is not what i need .(this is the traditionnal way how to create graphs for a host)
what i need is to monitor an OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.4874.2.2.35.1.5.1.3.1.1.7)
when i snmpget this oid i am getting a list of IPAddresses that i need to get a graph for each one.
P.S: the list of ipAddresses that i am getting is all private IPs.
Regards
