Can't add SNMP enabled devices to monitor...

Post by rphillips »

Here is what happens.
1. I add the device.

2. Then I get a DNS error when clicking create

3. I hit F5 to refresh.

4. Then I click on the device that was added and the page basically comes up blank.

Viewing my local linux machine works fine (no SNMP) but any device I add that has SNMP enabled I get this error. I have manually walked these devices from the cacti server and it works fine. Please help... I'm at my wits end and am considering installing it on a frekin windows box.

Please insure that you have the NET-SNMP modules installed. They can be downloaded from www.netsnmp.org. Also, please goto the Cacti Settings and sellect the Path's tab and verify the snmpget and snmpwalk paths.

Yup, built NET-SNMP 5.0.8 from source and it's installed in /usr/local/bin

Funny thing is rpm -qa is showing snmp 5.0.9-2.80.1
but snmpwalk -v is showing Version 5.0.8

This is one of the downsides to GNU. But, I would not have it any other way. Question: Why did you not build 5.1.1?

5.1.1 is installed now. Same problem... maybe I should just go ahead and reinstall everything since running Cacti was the purpose of this computer anyway. I'm a linux novice and probably screwed something up in my install/configuration (read: Learning) process.
