emailing reports
Hi there,
I am new to using cacti. Having just set it up and setup all of our servers with basic templates i was looking to see how i can email out some reports based on thresholds being hit. (disk space over 90% etc)
I cant seem to find a way to do this, any ideas folks?
solaris 10
cacti 0.8.7
thanks loads in advance.
regards

You need the Plugin Architecture, and the Thold plugin. Both are available from http://cactiusers.org/
Weathermap 0.98a is out! & QuickTree 1.0. Superlinks is over there now (and built-in to Cacti 1.x).
Some Other Cacti tweaks, including strip-graphs, icons and snmp/netflow stuff.
(Let me know if you have UK DevOps or Network Ops opportunities, too!)

cannot get this to work,i am following this guide...
http://cactiusers.org/wiki/PluginArchitectureInstall
i tried both methods of install and i cant get either to work.
Using the Pre-Patched Files
totally buggers cacti, had to restore from backup
Using the Patch
i get this...
----
# patch -p1 -N < cacti-plugin-0.8.7b-PA-v2.1.diff
Looks like a unified context diff.
File to patch:

Are you using 0.8.7b? The patches are specific to each version of Cacti.
If you run the patch command from the root of the Cacti directory (/usr/local/cacti or whatever), then it should just figure things out. I don't remember using -N though.

I'd upgrade to b - there were quite a few bug fixes in a and b.

Check the upgrading notes, but I'm pretty sure you can go straight to b.jwdvd wrote:do i need to go to a then b, or can i fire right up to b?

You shouldn't need to do that if you run the patch command from the Cacti root directory. It patches many files.

yeah i know, im in the root cacti dir and its prompting me for the files to patch:-(
--- EDIT ---
ok, i tried the manual install instead, i have again followed this guide...
http://cactiusers.org/wiki/PluginArchitectureInstall
now it seems the main page is missing gifs and looks incomplete, and links fail saying...
The requested URL /var/apache2/htdocs/cacti/graphs_new.php was not found on this server.
but the files do exist. Can only think that its now a permissions issue :-/

That's a different issue - check that the cacti_uri in config.php is correct for your install. That should be in the instructions too.

I don't think you do have it right. It looks like you have the filesystem path (i.e. /usr/local/cacti/blah....) and not the *URL* path (i.e. /cacti/ ).
