[SOLVED] SNMP Interface 5 minute poller problem

Post by mlum »

I'm using latest version of CactiEZ and all monitoring was working ok
until I changed the Poll Interval and Cron Interval in the settings tab to
5 mins instead of 1min. When I did that, all SNMP Interface Stats stopped
being displayed. Just NAN instead of bandwidth usage figure. However, all
other stats were ok (SNMP Partitions, CPU, Host Process)

I changed the setting back to one minute however that didn't fix the
interface issue until I did a verbose query on the device page. Then
figures started being recorded again for that individual device. I had to
do a verbose query on all devices to get their interface stats working
again.

Is there a fix to allow 5 min polling?

Well, it's a complex answer. You have now RRDfiles and Data Templates that are "tuned" for 1 minute polling. You have to first modify your Data Template for the traffic and retune for 5 minute polling, then either alter your existing RRDfiles, or recreate the graphs.

Please readup on RRDtool at (www.rrdtool.org). Seek out Cacti assistance at http://docs.cacti.net.

However, with my current Windows agents I may suffer from this....

Time to test net-snmp agent I think.

for the record after I changed the poller options to 5 minutes I went to "Data Templates"/"Interface - Traffic"

Excluded "Hourly (1 Minute Average)" from Associated RRA's

Changed "Step" to 300

Then on both "traffic_in" and "traffic_out" change heartbeat to 600

And then deleted the "Interface - Traffic" datasource from each device then added it back in again through "Create Graphs for this Host"

All seems to be working ok now.
