Very large rrd files

Post by tehopson »

Went to backup my Cacti install and found it to be around 450 megs :o

Looked into my rra dir and see each rrd file is approx 628k each in size. Unless I'm blind and missing something outright, I'm at a loss. My older install makes nice 94k files.

The system is running Fedora Core 2 with rrdtool 1.0.48.

Thanks~!

Thanks for the reply.

I've kept pretty good tabs on my logfile, rotating every few days. The 'oddity' that I see is how large the rrd files are. The majority of them are 620k, much larger than the 93k files I'm used to seeing.

Guess I'm just trying to figure out if this is normal. I'm only doing a backup of the rrd's one a week, and it isn't too bad when gzipd

There is nothing wrong in having "big" rrd files. Some of mine are around 1MB and I have them in total almost 2BG. The rrd file size is determined at creation time. If they are growing for you then something is wrong.
