New Linux Install. Blank screen after install

Hi all,
I am setting up a new Linux install, and I think i am close to getting this to work. But for some reason, when i go to http://SERVER/cacti/ all i get is a blank page. I reviewed the information here: http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=28593 and it looks like we are having the same problem. Here is the info i gathered, based on what savagehobo provided.

OS: RHEL4
Cacti Location: /var/www/cacti

When I have created a test.php file and it looks as though PHP is working. I can view that from my web browser, but none of the cacti pages are working. Anyone have any thoughts?

Never mind. I fixed it. I had pointed to the wrong location for the php files. All is good now. Now i need to install PIA!!!

OK, another problem. i installed PIA and changed the owner on all of the files, to what i thought it should be and i am now getting access denied on any cacti page. i have tried CHOWNing to Root, Apache and Cactiuser, but i get the same results every time.

Any thoughts?

Maybe the users you've tried isn't the user that owns the apache service (when running). Check your httpd.conf file and make sure your user/group matches the actual owners.

On ubuntu systems, the apache user/group is www-data, while on Gentoo, the default apache user/group is apache. Other distros might make the same apache change to use a different username/groupname.

Just a thought.
