NetApp SDK vs Data Input Methods vs "My Small Brain&quo

So I am trying to figure this out. I am not grasping how to create the data input methods. I have the link to http://docs.cacti.net/?q=node/200 but I can't seem to wrap my head around it.

More importantly is in relation to this particular template thing using the NetApp SDK.

If anyone could just give me one example or some tips I would forever be indebted to you. I will be working all weekend trying to get this done.

I have some NetApp stuff at my Git repo. You can grab the files via regular HTTP. If you have any specific questions after looking over those, just let me know. Those give examples of both Data Queries and Data Input Methods, so it should give you everything that you need.
