95th percentile && total bandwidth && summin

Post by Qweb-Yavuz »

Hi all,

I have searched, maybe not enough, but could not find the answers.

The situation is as follows, we have a lot of HP Procurve 2650 switches, and are polling only them for traffic usage.

I have seen that if I use the standard templates, I can get 95th percentile or total bandwidth, but I want both, preferably the total bandwidth in Bytes and the rest in bits.

And I want to be able to view the month before (from the first to the last day of the month), and even a couple of months before. Herefore I use catistoric.

Besides that I want to be able to sum the traffic on different ports, even across different switches.

My questions:

Is it possible to have the 95th percentile and the traffic in bits, and the total bandwidth in Bytes in the same graph, preferably with the zoom function of catistoric? If yes, does someone have tips for me? If not, what is possible from the things I want?

And is it possible to sum the above graph, with another one?

A note though, I just started with Cacti, and just started with RRDtool, and have not yet enough data to test right now. Actually I will be satisfied if someone answers me with "Yes, it is possible, I have done it without applying too many patches and/or changing too many code". If someone wants to point me to the right direction, that's even nicer, but not necessary!

[edit] I see now that when I zoom in, the 95th percentile doesn't zoom in! I mean, the 95th percentile is not being re-calculated! That's not what I want, I want to be able to read the 95th percentile of last month, and the total bandwidth of last month for example! The total bandwidth does zoom in, but the 95th percentile doesn't, is that correct? If so, has someone been able to zoom the 95th percentile too?

Since I have added zoom support to the pending 0.8.6 release, I will do my best to make sure this works by the time 0.8.6 is released.

Hi Ian

I've tried yesterday's snapshot, and zooming function works fine. However, could you please add Cactistoric/Cactiquery along with Bonsai ? It would be a great bundle (zooming on a current graph, on a specified time range and exporting to CSV).

Many many thanks in advance.

It definitely can't hurt to include the best of both worlds here. I will add a note to my TODO to add this.
