[solved] DATA Query returning http 500 Internal error

Post by ranjeet »

When I add a device under device Query for SNMP interface statistics , some devices display all the Interfaces , however some devices are returing http 500 Internal server error.
I tried increasing the max execution time under PHP.ini and also increased the SNMP timeout, however the same http error was reported.
What i have noticed that device which have high number of interfaces while dpoing snmpwalk on command line are returning the error.

Please provide a work around for the same.

1) Please read the sticky, follow it and post your system info.
2) Have you increased the php.ini memory value too?
3) what did you set the max execution time to?
4) Does the 500 error happen with all devices or just some?
5) any meaningful errors in windows event logs or IIS ?

1)yes i increased the php.ini value to 128M
2)I set the max execution time to 500
3)500 error happens only with some devices
4)system info
Operating System: Windows 2000 Advansed server
Webserver: IIS
Cacti: 0.8.7b
Spine: Not installed
MySQL: 5.0.67 Win32
PHP: 5.2.6-win32
RRDTool (Cygwin or Win32 version): 1.2.28-win32
Net-SNMP: 5.4.1-3.win32
Cygwin (cygwin1.dll version): 1005.25.0.0

5)Windows even viewer system log :I am not sure if this is related to cacti
1)The SNMP Service is ignoring extension agent key SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WINSMibAgent\CurrentVersion because it is missing or misconfigured.

Alright so you increased the max_execution_time and max_input_time, right? you don't want them more than 5 min (300 sec) anyways.

No, that WINSMibAgent wouldn't likely be a problem. It's something related to cacti fetching/parsing the snmp data from large devices.

You can also tweak how cacti polls snmp data in cacti's settings -> Poller.
