"Current Data Sources" listing gets confused

Post by Guest »

with data sources with more than 1 data input with names containing consecutive numbers.

For instance, I'll have something like

traffic_ecc1
traffic_ecc1_inbound
traffic_ecc1_outbound
traffic_ecc2
traffic_ecc2_inbound
traffic_ecc2_outbound
...etc...
traffic_eccN
traffic_eccN_inbound
traffic_eccN_outbound

Problem is, I have lots of systems with consecutive numbers in their names, and when I get to ecc10 I get this:

traffic_ecc1
traffic_ecc2
traffic_ecc2_inbound
traffic_ecc2_outbound
...
traffic_ecc10
traffic_ecc10_inbound
traffic_ecc10_outbound
traffic_ecc1_inbound
traffic_ecc1_outbound

The ecc1 data inputs will list with the last consecutive traffic_ecc1* data source. It suspect it would stop at 19, and then traffic_ecc2 sources would list with the traffic_ecc2* sources.

This doesn't seem to break anything, but the listing is confusing. My workaround is to put 2 underscores in data source names above 10, i.e. traffic__ecc10, and if I get to 100 then I suspect 3.

I agree with you, there should be some ability to take different 'views' into account or somesuch.. I use all of our machine or router names followed by info like.. atlas_sysinfo_procs, to c5k_traf_ser1_in .. but you get a handful of machines or routers with significant data collecting and thats one helluva screen to look at.. I also seem to accidently delete the wrong row from time to time.. Oh isn't that just pleasent. ;)

Perhaps it would be nice to have a front-end label which could point to the actual .RRD file, much the same way as the Data Input category.
