i had the same problem.

i have tested several different rrdtool versions and i can confirm that ONLY 1.2.28 is not working and shows this 'no legends' problem. All other versions until 1.2.27 are working just fine.

so, i'll stick with 1.2.27.

Hi All,
I use Gentoo, and I just updated my system today and rrdtool got upgraded to 1.2.28 and am now experiencing this issue where all the legend data is missing.

I ran the debug rrdtool line which cacti gave me under a strace hoping to find the object which is failing to load since it is not telling me the name.

Code: Select all

write(2, "ERROR: failed to load \n"..., 23ERROR: failed to load

Google found not much except leading me to this post.

UPDATE: a bug has been created on bugs.gentoo.org for this issue.

my fix is to mask the version.
/etc/portage/package.mask

Code: Select all

Interesting enough I have the same issue when I updated to 1.2.28 via yum. Looks like I'll either downgrade to 1.2.27 or wait for a 1.2.29 release ;)

I solved this problem?

At Console -> Cacti Settings, select Visual and on Title/Legend/Axis/Unit Font File put /usr/share/rrdtool/fonts/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf.

It worked with me, so after I tried the same solution with another ttf files. I imagine that it happen because of new rrdtool version.
