how do I graph XEN Virtual Machines?

Post by SoftDux »

Hi all

Does anyone know how to graphs a XEN Virtual machine, on a Linux server? I've seen the plug ins that can SSH into a server and get the info, but I can't rely on that. I need to graph client's VPS's, so they shouldn't be able to change anything on it.

Hi guys,
I'm interested in it too.
I've found an article http://pookey.co.uk/blog/archives/53-Mo ... pdate.html, and I've tried to implement it.

I'm in troubles because I've IMPORTED all the xml files, but I don't know howto use the php file. Have I to use it in the cactiuser crontab file as the poller.php ? have I to define a data input method with it ???
I apologize for these trivial questions, but I'm a novice and the article does not explain how to use it.

Thank you in advance for any suggestion!!!

The author said:
I documented a method for monitoring xens from dom0

So, you need to a way for Cacti to run a script to your Xen master/dom0 server. The two most common ways are:

1.) SNMP using 'exec' statement. Example:
exec .1.3.your.made.up.OID.1 name-your-script /path/to/yourscripthere -any.arguments

Then point Cacti to this OID by modifying whatever is in that XML file

2.) Use a program like NRPE

Then point Cacti to this OID by modifying whatever is in that XML file

Hi,
you say "I've documented a method". Do you have a light doc to understand it? You speak about a XML file to take a look. Do you have it available for us?

Thanks in advance

Actually I quoted the author.. I don't have XML or a doc, sorry. I suggest you get it working on the command line and from there it will be adding it into Cacti which has been documented quite well by the Cacti authors.
