memory usage on linux machines with 4+GB RAM

I can get memory usage monitoring to work on machines with smaller amounts of RAM (512MB) - however, with machines that have large amounts of RAM, the monitoring is not working.

Is there a setting that must be set for monitoring to work, or is snmp not capable of supporting this?
