If your snmpd.conf file only contains what you have in your post then there's your problem. When you're using Net-Snmp, the Sysdescr is pulled from the snmpd.conf file but the version information is pulled directly from the snmp information on the machine.

There should be an example of a full snmpd.conf file that you can follow to correctly configure so you get the correct information.

Any reason why you don't want to use the Microsoft SNMP agent?

huh? No. I suggest you read up on what SNMPv3 provides over v2.

Wrong again. The installation guide has you install the net-snmp TOOLS, not snmp agent.

1) install & configure microsoft snmp
2) add the device to cacti.
3) verify snmp is functional
4) start graphing.

My head hurts... Hey, BSOD, now that you are official, can you get you know who to fix the issue with reading the A: drive :) Also, need real 64bit counters :)
