cacti 0.8.7.a + fedora 9 issue

Post by furyro »

hello,

i'm using cacti for some time now and i find it very useful.

i recently upgraded my server to fedora 9 and since then i'm experiencing a problem with my cacti installation... here it goes:

in the ''graphs'' tab on the main window, when i select one of the hosts i am managing i don't get a preview of the interfaces / processes that i am monitoring - it looks like the PNGs are missing or better said could not be generated...

however, when i click on what it should be the preview, i DO get the graphs generated for daily, weekly and so on...

i've noticed while this happens my apache server reports errors in syntax - something like ''i don't understand....'' - referencing to the (dynamic) timestamp for the graph...

the cacti log does not report any errors...

also, if i'm using a custom preview, and i manually select the date and the time in hours and WITHOUT minutes, the preview graphs show just fine...

i also mention that this issue never appeared with earlier fedora distros...

any help will be greatly appreciated...

Please verify rrdtool version from "Settings" and compare with "rrdtool --version". If it does not help, please post the exact error found in httpd's error_log

hello again

on the cacti GUI i have RRDTOOL 1.0.x selected but i can also select 1.2.x.

on the linux CLI i have: rrdtool --version: RRDtool 1.3.0 Copyright 1997-2008 by Tobias Oetiker <tobi@oetiker.ch> Compiled Jun 19 2008 16:27:02

the error_log of the webserver looks like this:
ERROR: I don't understand ':11:45 To 2008/07/07 12:11:45\c' in command: 'COMMENT:From 2008/07/06 12:11:45 To 2008/07/07 12:11:45\c'.

i switched the rrd version in use on cacti to 1.2.x and it works...

PROBLEM SOLVED - thanks-a-lot

Ok, fine.
Currently, cacti does not officially support rrdtool 1.3.x.
And the auto-detection sees it as rrdtool 1.0 which causes your failures.
Setting it to rrdtool 1.2 manually should at least support all current 1.2 options
