Trend Historian / Trending

Post by gmenarvino »

Hello All,

Is there a possibility to put another graph into each rrd-file that shows a trend of the data for a specific time frame ?

The idea is to get Trend Historian plug in or something where I can put for instance an interface traffic, interface errors, Qos graph for that interface, Router CPU, etc into the same graph so that I can compare.

Here I found some companies that do Trend Historian, please take a look:
http://www.canarylabs.com/CanaryFAQ.html
http://www.steema.com/img_products/gall ... arge7.html
http://www.canarylabs.com/Product/Trend ... view6.html

Is any way to get this runnuing in cacti with the example I have provided above?

If so, could you please provide me with a step-by-step to make this happen?
I did not find any plug in for this.

Thanks in Advance.

rrdtool has Holt-Winters, but Cacti doesn't implement it... yet.

Yes, for sure

I suppose so. This would involve to create all rrd's on your own and some very nice tweaks. Not yet tested and not recommended.
And I'm still seraching for someone who would provide the walkthroughs based on pure rrdtool.
I make a promise: If someone explains how to use, tune and manage Holt-Winters based on pure rrdtool, I will implement everything that was explained well. But I require examples that everyone is able to try him/herself
