Graph elements stacked

Post by pizzmeister »

Good Morning,

I know this may be a newbie question, but hey, that's how you learn, right? I have 2 installations of Cacti. One is 0.8.7b on Fedora 7, and the other is 0.8.6? on Fedora 6.

The interface graphs on the older version show the incoming and outgoing data with different lines, where the interface graphs on 0.8.7b show the incoming and outgoing data stacked. I've tried playing around with the Interface - Traffic (bits/sec) template, but nothing I change on the 0.8.7b installation seems to separate the data lines. They're always stacked.

Can anyone give me a push in the right direction?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Ok, just noticed something... on my 0.8.7b box, I was looking at the interface graphs, and it's showing inbound and outbound traffic at the exact same levels. Same Current, Average and Maximum. I'm sure this is why the graphs are not looking right.

So, I guess this changes my question. Why would the inbound and outbound traffic be the same? So far I haven't found anything apparent in the tamplates or sources, but maybe I'm missing something.

Please visit the failing graph at Graph Management, select DEBUG. Now, find the rrdtool graph statement and examine what's going on there

Broken RRDTool command includes DEF a through DEF H, and CDEF a, b, d, e, f and h.

DEF:a="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_in:AVERAGE \
DEF:b="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_in:LAST \
DEF:c="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_in:MIN \
DEF:d="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_in:MAX \
DEF:e="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_out:AVERAGE \
DEF:f="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_out:LAST \
DEF:g="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_out:MIN \
DEF:h="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_817.rrd":traffic_out:MAX \
CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* \
CDEF:cdefb=b,8,* \
CDEF:cdefd=d,8,* \
CDEF:cdefe=e,8,* \
CDEF:cdeff=f,8,* \
CDEF:cdefh=h,8,* \

The working one only has DEF a and DEF b (and CDEF a and b).

DEF:a="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_577.rrd":traffic_in:AVERAGE \
DEF:b="/usr/share/cacti/rra/bosvsec1_traffic_in_577.rrd":traffic_out:AVERAGE \
CDEF:cdefa=a,8,* \
CDEF:cdefe=b,8,* \

Other than that, they're almost identical. The broken one also states a certain font, and has different HRULE and VRULE settings, but I'm not graphing those.

No idea where to go at this point. Everything else looks identical. I've even blown away the graph and restarted, and it did the same thing.

Those parts are still fine. Please post the whole statement along with any error message

I tried posting them both in entirety, but I received an SQL error message from the forum, so I'll try again.

Both are formally ok. So, what's the graph looking like? Broken Image, sth missing or what? A screenshot may help

Ok, I've attached an example of the good one and the bad one (different router being queried, but same results). The bad one has the same values for inbound traffic as it does for outbound traffic.
Attachments
This one has the same lines for both inbound and outbound, and has the same values for current, average and maximum for both inbound and outbound.

Please run an "rrdtool info" on the rrd file related to the failing graph and post results.

2nd question: are you running spine? In this case, please run spine --verbosity=5 against that very host to see the polling results.

Else, please see System Utilities -> View poller chache
Filter for the host and post the resulting lines (I'm searching for invalid duplicates)

That's bad. Same OID occurs twice. Second one should read .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.16.1 instead.
Please run cli/rebuild_poller_cache.php and re-visit the Poller Cache to see if the problem was cured
