Installation problems

Post by chiranjeevi.b »

Hi

I am new to cacti, Installed following components as part of Cacti installation on my system, I am able to login console but not getting any graphs, I followed all the steps mentioned in cacti manual > “Installing Under Windows”
cacti-0.8.7b
RRDTool 1.2.15
net-snmp-5.1.2
MySQL 5.0.51b
PHP 5.2.6
Apache Web Server 2.2.9
After creating device “My Windows localhost” I am getting SNMP error
SNMP Information
SNMP error

It seems am missing some settings of poller or net-snmp, please let me know how should I proceed further.

and also let me know how to debug cacti environment, any documentation for the same.

thanks in advance :)

any quick help would be appreciated.

1) read MY installation guide.
2) read http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=11747 entirely.
3) That snmp error is likely because you didn't properly configure the windows snmp agent or a firewall is blocking SNMP traffic.

1) Is there any specific reason why you need the net-snmp agent instead of the microsoft one? I recommend beginners start out with Microsoft's and then migrate to net-snmp only if its needed.

2) I see you used xampp, which isn't per the installation guide. You might have some problems because of this.

3) Do you see the system uptime now for the device? If not, snmp is still not functional.

4) What uptime detection method do you have selected? I recommend snmp only.

5) Look in your cacti.log file for any errors.

Did you wait 10 minutes for graphs? What does graph debugging say that the error is now?

Read through the documentation site, link above for details on how cacti works, etc.

1) There are major differences in what each agent returns for data. Uninstall the net-snmp snmp AGENT and install the microsoft one. It comes with windows. There is a link in my FAQ (in the installation guide) on how to install it -- or google.

2) xampp DOES cause issues if you don't properly follow my installation guide and set the correct mysql/php settings. Please review it.

5) Change the cacti logging level to debug for a polling cycle and look again.
