What does [DS] mean in logfile?

Post by WhipHubley »

Hi there.

What does [DS] relate to in the logfile? For example...

CACTID: Host[1] DS[2508] WARNING: Result from SCRIPT not valid. Partial Result: ...
Use of uninitialized value in subtraction (-) at /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/xxxx_cacti line 80.

The "Host" in this instance is the localhost (the server running Cacti) but I need to know which host is being checked to produce this error.

I can only hope that the "DS" value refers to something I can query in the cacti database.

Thanks.

DS = data source !

with this line you can see something bad happened with data source 2508 .... you can look what's data source 2508 about and try to fix that.

Thankyou.

I can only hope there's a table in the database which will help me out with this :-)

why worry with tables in database ??? forget that and look for the data source in cacti web interface !!!

of course you can handle things directly on the database .... but that would be FAAAAR more complex than simply using the web interface.

Surely the database is the quickest way for me to find out what data source id equals 2508 ?

I'm actually struggling to find out which table this is held in, though.

Any ideas?

Hmm, I think this might be the answer...

select * from data_template_data where local_data_id=2508

Isn't it hypelinked in the log file? All the DS's are in mine, how about just clicking on it and seeing what it is?

Goto:

http://yourhostname/data_sources.php?ac ... it&id=2508

Replacing "yourhostname" with your server's name or IP.
