RRdtool 1.3rc3 was out today :
* have some reports that the new release was not working with
cacti, I have not been able to verify this, help is apreciated.

* If you are running some rrdtool frontend with 1.2 at the moment,
please test with 1.3 ... there should be no major breakage.
For those wanting to compile it under Gentoo Linux, add this to /etc/portage/package.use :

Code: Select all

For Fedora, it's "yum install pango-devel".

I'm not one to normally jump on the bleeding edge of technology, but I got into an upgrading frenzy on my box starting yesterday. Been working on updating everything that was behind. I upgraded to RRDTool 1.3 today and never realized it had just been released today.

It's a rather involved installation. Make sure you read the rrdbuild.txt file and follow it exactly especially the parts about the requirements before you install RRDTool.

The biggest hangup that I found was that pangocairo.pc wouldn't end up in the correct directory no matter how I tried to compile Pango. So I copied it to the correct place by hand and it everything seems to be working just fine.

It is kind of disappointing that the TTF fonts are gone as I liked my custom font. I guess until Cacti gets caught up, we'll have to deal with the default RRDTool font.

I am still getting font misalignment with RRDTool 1.3.1-3 on Debian lenny/sid (and Cacti 0.8.7b):

Any help would be appreciated!

I had the font misalignment since freebsd ports installs 1.3 version by default, I downgraded to 1.2 after reading this thread but now have no fonts at all.

So seems I have a choice of misaligned text (looks bad in my opinion) or no fonts.

Anyone have a clue the solution to missing fonts as I would rather fix 1.2 then go back to 1.3.

It seems to be a bug in rrdtool12 that it does not know about default font.
Fix is to hardcode /usr/local/share/rrdtool/fonts/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf as font in Settings -> Visual

isn't working. :(

I put in /usr/local/share/rrdtool/fonts/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf in RRDTool Default Font Path under paths setting, no setting for it under visual. Rrdtool set to 1.2 but is blank text still.

The /usr/local/share/rrdtool/fonts/DejaVuSansMono-Roman.ttf file does exist I checked.

ahh I found this.

http://groups.google.com/group/linux.de ... 66efabc3cf

so it seems the option dont work and in addition I happen to be using the only buggy version of rrdtool I will try downgrading it again to older 1.2.
