Cacti error on Debian install

I followed the cacti document exactly and install seemed to go fine.


When I browse to http://localhost/cacti, I am getting the following error in browser

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_pconnect() in /usr/share/php/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 376

Kindly advise on solutions

I have installed both mysql and php-mysql (I'm using mysql 5.0 and php5 and apache2). I did get an error message on the install: libphp.adodb is now in usr/shared/php/adodb - I'm trying hard to follow the directions in the users manual, but they don't match what really happens. There is no hpptd, it's apache2. All the files referenced are in slightly different places than the manual says. Also, I cannot find the config.php anywhere. I did a locate and it wasn't found. I did get into the mysqladmin and there is a cacti database present and there is a user named cacti.

First: To locate config.php do: updatedb in your linux console.
Second: Manual directly telling you where you can find config.php, (cacti/include/config.php).
Apache2 is too httpd server
After install php-mysql please reload your apache server.

Thank you for the input. I am out of town for the weekend. I will try this Monday evening when I return and I will post a reply with the results. I am a relative linux beginner and I appreciate the help.

I have locate my /usr/share/cacti/site/include/config.php but i have not understood the manual directory.

Please, it's possible to explain this at me ?

Comment as-tu fais pour installer cacti ? tu as fait avec apt-get install cacti ? Si oui c'est une mauvaise idée.

ben j'ai fais un truc si tu veux. il faudrai que je l'adapte car c'est un manuel pour mon entreprise mais je te le donne si tu veux.

Not wanting to disrupt your french conversation. But I fear that the problem lies with using an "adodb" version _not_ supplied by cacti. But cacti requires it's own adodb. While this seems uncommon to you, it's a fact, ATM

I did the updatedb command and then the locate was able to find my config.php file, which I updated with the appropriate database access information. I thought maybe the problem was naming so I made sure the database user and the system system were both cactiuser. I'm able to go into the query browser as cactiuser and get into the database and run queries; however, I continue to get the unable to connect message when I enter http://localhost/cacti in the IceWeasel browser. Is there something else I can do to isolate the problem or to "rule out" possible causes? I would be happy to attach my various config files if someone can take a look.

Salut, cyrill. Tu peux me le donner,aussi, s.t.p? Car j'ai installé Cacti en utilisant "apt-get install cacti", mais il y a beaucoup de problème. Donc, j'aimerais bien avoir une autre façon d'installer Cacti. Je t'en remercie par avance!!!

Salut ! Ecoute il n'est pas encore adapté car je fais sa pour un travail d'entreprise mais si tu arrive a patienter deux semaines je pourrais te le donner. C'est très déconseillé de l'installer avec Aptitude car il t'installe toutes les dépendances mais il configure également apache en créant des hôtes virtuels et des choses de ce type et sa peut te poser quelques problèmes si tu dois appliquer des patchs ou bien des mises à jour surtout.
