Plugin Installation Help.

Post by hboogz »

I must be missing a simple step ( i hope ) but i can't seem to install any plugins.

I'm brand new to cacti just installed 0.87b and just managed to get through the latest installation of PA 2.1.

However, i don't see a "Install" plugin -- what am i doing wrong ? I really have no idea how to attack this.

I think i did this part right ?

I recently encountered some problems with plugin paths that included a dash "-". Please rename to e.g. "manage" and make sure, that not a second manage* path exists. I did not dig into it, as I did not use latest PIA

Well, in this case we should call this a real bug. Please post to forums at http://cactiuser.org to make cigamit aware of it

First, the folder name you choose has to be the exact name of the plugin, no using - versions, etc... in there. Here are the instructions for installing plugins.

http://cactiusers.org/wiki/PluginsInstall

Most plugins do not support the new Plugin Architecture fully, so you will not see them in the list. They need to use the new function available in order for them to show up, otherwise you have to do it the old fashion way and add them to your global.php.

Hi again, Jimmy!
Well, I had issues when keeping a copy of an old plugin named <plugin>-<version code> along with the new <plugin>. That's why I asked for it.

Are you loading both? Seems odd that it would have issues just being in the directory. I'll do some testing and see what I can come up with.

Hi,

I had the same issue.
Installed the following plugins but not listed.

monitor-0.8.2
thold-0.3.9
tools-0.3

Are these plugins supports the new Plugin Architecture or no? They should listed or no?

My global.php looks like this (no dash):
$plugins = array();
$plugins[] = 'thold';
$plugins[] = 'tools';
$plugins[] = 'monitor';

On plugin management page I see: Last Scanned : Never
Why, and how do I scan?
If scan means click on Installed tab than I did it.

Thx: Sini

Last scan will only update if you have the update plugin installed. Thold requires the settings plugin to work, so you will need it also.

Most plugins don't support the new PA fully at this time, so they won't show up in the Plugin Management list. Instead you need to install them the old way, I have updated most of the SVN copies of the current ones to be fully compatible, they are just not released yet.
